Travel Back In Time to 1852 with Mount Lofty House
It was 1852 and it was a brave new world! Netherlands begins issuing postage stamps, the first Chinese arrive in Hawaii, Uncle Sam cartoon figure made its debut in the New York Lantern weekly and the first house was built on the summit of Mount Lofty, Adelaide.
A politician, lawyer, pastoralist and businessman, Arthur Hardy was the man behind the building of British style country manor, Mount Lofty House. The property served the Hardy family as a cool summer residence and later became their permanent home. The beautiful manor was synonymous with celebration, decadence and was the state's premier venue for lavish and infamous parties for Adelaide’s elite of the day.
Fast forward 166 years and Mount Lofty House has stayed true to its tradition by becoming an iconic designer boutique hotel in Adelaide Hills, famous for luxury escapes, fine dining restaurants, indulgent day spa experiences and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.
Even though the property's lofty beginnings was made possible by a man, Mount Lofty House is also committed to ensuring that female travellers deserve a tailored experience and its Inspired By Her initiative does the trick! As part of the Inspired by Her program, MGallery hotels in Australia have also added light and healthy menu items in restaurants and a number of dishes have been created specifically around inspiring females. Signature cocktails have also been created ‘with her in mind’ with floral creations, Champagne and muddled fruit a feature.
And if it's one thing that females love and that is a good ol' Instagrammable breakfast spread with a view!
Finally, no trip is complete without the chance to watch the sun set! It was almost as if we were given a glimpse into what it was like to watch the sun set back in 1852 from one of South Australia's great icons, the Mount Lofty House.
